From a McClain’s Brain: Animal paws never fail to make me laugh, especially my dog’s

It’s fair to say that my younger sister Maggie and I are obsessed with our border collie, Chester.

For some unknown reason, I have noticed recently that we mainly just obsess over his paws. Weird, I know.

We often amuse ourselves by slap-happily completing the phrase ‘ËœWhat if…’ with some strange action we imagine our dog doing.

For instance, the other morning as Maggie and I ate breakfast, we contemplated what if dogs had shoe sizes.

We concluded Chester would be a size one because his little paws were disproportionate to the rest of his medium sized body. My sister even went as far as taking out a ruler and measuring the size of his paw (it was 2 1/2 inches long if you were curious).

We laughed harder we imagined him wearing little booties like some horrible owners put their puppies in.

This might be just me, but nothing makes me consistently laugh harder than when animals (not just dogs) doing human things with their paws.

Another Chester ‘ËœWhat if’ that always makes me laugh is picturing Chester dial a phone with his paws. Classic.

Other people must think this is funny besides me because it shows up all over the place in bad commercials, TV shows and movies.

Like in Our Lips are Sealed, Mary Kate and Ashley‘s pet kangaroo (remember it is a Mary Kate and Ashley movie) loves to watch TV. At one point, the camera zooms in on the remote just as the kangaroo’s paw comes into the screen and presses one of the buttons. I’m writing this in a quiet free period right now and am trying not to laugh while thinking about that paw changing the channel. It gets me every time.

The next time you see an animal using it’s paw to do some person activity, I hope even if you don’t think it’s funny you laugh. Or just let me know what it was, so I can laugh.

What if Chester braided your hair?
P.S. I had the same trying-not-to-laugh phenomenon while reading this in a class. Thank you for the distraction from standard deviation. My professor loves me.

hahah! it kills me every time! here’s some more…
What if I look outside and saw Chester balancing on my fence with his little paws.
What if one day at dinner, Chester just got up on a chair and started telling us about his day… and picked up utensils with his little claws
What if …. this could go on a while – so I’ll stop now

What if you looked outside into your backyard and saw Chester swinging on the playground, with his little paws gripping the ropes.
