STA’s production of “Curtains” recently received three Starlight Theatre Blue Star nominations.

Senior Hanna Katz, junior Sibel Alpakin, and sophomores Katie Holt and Shelby Hawkins were nominated for Outstanding Costume Design, Tier II. Juniors Maria Luna and Lena White, and sophomores Gabby Ferro and Katie Parkinson were nominated for Outstanding Technical Crew – Lighting Crew, and the entire cast and crew were nominated for Outstanding Overall Production.

Out of 48 shows, only five are nominated for Outstanding Overall Production according to drama teacher Shana Prentiss.

In an email to the STA staff, faculty, and administration, Prentiss wrote, “For STA to be recognized like this is bigger than big.”

According to Prentiss, she was so surprised because STA is competing against big public schools with huge casts and lots of money.

“I was completely stunned,” Prentiss said. “I think I screamed ‘Shut up’ when I saw it,”

Due to their Outstanding Overall Production nomination, the cast will perform a song from show on the Starlight stage at a ceremony May 24 at 7:30 p.m. Admission is free and students and faculty are encouraged to attend.

“I’m just thrilled,” Prentiss said.
