Student assesses groundbreaking ceremony

So I don’t know what you guys thought, but I thought that ceremony was fantastic– something I’ll remember forever.

Even if it wasn’t a classic, goofy, STA style dedication full of humor, costumes, and shout-outs, it was still very nice and reverent.  And goodness knows we all need some of that around here every once in a while.

I was even impressed by the savvy setup we had assembled just to shovel some dirt.  Ironic, huh?  Ironic maybe, but monumental, even if the pile of dirt did look like a grave. (Ms. Coughlin wondered what teacher was missing and what they could have possibly done wrong.)

And the decoration job by the school wasn’t the only impressive thing.

As I looked up into the bleachers after saying my petition, I was awed by (most of) our ability to look so presentable on such a momentous occasion.  We clean up nice, STA.

Then, standing in our circle surrounded by other students, faculty, staff, I was overwhelmed with a great feeling.  I thought, I am currently standing where there will soon be a building.  A building my children could one day have classes or meditation in.

It was a scary thought, let me tell you.  I actually got goosebumps (which may have had something to do with the wind).

While thinking about the future, I couldn’t help but reflect on the present.  The love and support I felt while standing in that circle around the digging sight was terrifingly magnificent.

There were so many people present who were just rooting for the students to succeed.  They have contributed great amounts of time, money, and effort to the cause.  And it’s all for us and future girls of the school.

If that isn’t generosity, I don’t know what is.

I felt so lucky to have such a caring group of people looking out for our futures, and the futures of every single student who will eventually attend this fine academy.

I don’t think everyone grasps how monumentous this was, but I hope one day everyone will come to appreciate it.  Just be glad you were here to witness STA history in the making.
