I Challenge You: Week Four Challenge

I took my dog Sadie for a walk last week, but only once.  You might ask why I did not do it more times considering how nice the weather was.  Well, after the first two blocks of walking, my 10 pound dachshund got too tired and I had to carry her for the remainder of the walk.  Spending time outside last week was nice, but taking my dog for a walk was a challenge only worth trying once.

This week’s challenge is taking the opposite approach of last week’s.  Instead of coming home and relaxing a little while before you get into your homework, this week try to come home from school and immediately start your homework.

At the beginning of the week, this challenge may seem torturous because it is a direct continuation of a seven hour school day.  However, give the challenge a try and my guess is that by Wednesday you will realize that by starting and finishing your homework right away you will have free time later in the evening.  This means going to bed before midnight (I did not know it was possible either), watching your favorite TV shows (Modern Family anyone?) and even having time to get ahead on other homework (yeah right).  Make this challenge even more difficult by:

  • not listening to music during homework.  I am really going to try and do this.  Who doesn’t love listening to Drake while working on geometry?  It may make homework more enjoyable at the time, but it is a time waster.
  • mapping out a homework plan.  Figuring out how long it will take to complete each assignment can be a big motivator once you realize that you did not have as much homework as you thought.  Or it can have the opposite effect…
  • taking advantage of free periods.  The more work you do during school, the less you will have to do at home.  Try a quiet place like the library or silent study.

I feel that this challenge could improve many girls’ study habits, including my own.  If this week goes well, I hope that this challenge could become a year-long adjustment.  Let me know how you are doing with all of my challenges by e-mailing me at [email protected].  So let’s get home this week, do our homework and conquer this challenge!

How did the Week 4 challenge go for you?
