The groundbreaking ceremony for the new chapel is now scheduled for the spring instead of this fall.
‘This way we can raise more money for the chapel,’Â president Nan Bone said. ‘We just need more time to plan things out.’Â
Although the groundbreaking ceremony is postponed, Gould Evans design team principal Tony Rohr said that he and his team hope to begin working and expanding the parking lot this fall.
According to Rohr, this also gives him more time to plan and evaluate different contributing factors for the chapel. His team continues to work on design issues for the chapel and learn more about technology options for the classrooms.
They have already begun to select artifacts from STA and the Sisters of St. Joseph archives to go in the chapel. Rohr met with consultants to discuss the way the classrooms will work and the way artifacts of the school will be displayed and preserved in the new building.
As seen with the ground breaking ceremony, Bone said all aspects of the chapel are still up in the air and subject to change.
‘We hope to kick off the building of the chapel in the spring,’ Bone said. ‘The main word being ‘Ëœhope.”Â
